Beaches

Richardsons Beach

A beautiful long beach on the Western side of the Hazards. Campers have enjoyed this beach for years along with the locals. The beach runs from the township (accessed from the end of the Esplanade) to Freycinet Lodge. Campsites are available year round in the dunes and are especially popular in the summer months. The beach is very safe for swimmers and a great exit point for boaters and kayakers to explore Great Oyster Bay and beyond.

In summer the Lodge end is beautiful as it is protected from the afternoon sea breeze. There is a parking area at the Lodge end for easy access to the beach.

Fishing from the rocks from Richardsons Beach to Honeymoon Bay has proven very popular for squid as the sea grasses in this area attract this wonderful eating fish. Please be aware there are some times during the year where squid fishing is not permitted due to their mating season.
